Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God

"Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," preached by Jonathan Edwards in 1741, is one of the most famous and influential sermons in American Protestant history. Deeply rooted in Scripture (especially Deuteronomy 32:35: “Their foot shall slide in due time”), the sermon is a solemn warning to unrepentant sinners about the reality of God's wrath and the urgency of seeking salvation through Jesus Christ.

Jonathan Edwards’ sermon "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" had a profound influence on the Great Awakening, a major revival movement in colonial North America during the 1730s and 1740s. Delivered in Enfield, Connecticut, the sermon is often credited with helping to ignite a powerful wave of conviction and conversions throughout New England.
